FOUNDER - RONGOĀ PRACTITIONER & EDUCATOR
Kia ora, I'm Joanne, rongoa practitioner, plant medicine maker, educator and founder of Te Waka Rakau. I am Ngati Raukawa, born and raised in Otaki. I started Te Waka Rakau as a service, practice and online rongoā wānanga.
Te Waka Rākau has been teaching rongoā online since 2015. We have two rongoā wānanga, Punaora and Hineatua. Both wānanga run for 9 months.
Te Waka Rakau was founded with the intention to bridge ancient healing traditions and plant remedies as a form of grass roots healthcare for today's modern world. We opened the Rongoa Clinic in Otaki to provide people with an alternative for health and wellness.
We are wairua before we are physical beings, first and foremost.
Changes occur in wairua as soon as we connect to the mauri of rākau whether that is by ingesting rongoā or by connecting to the plants mauri.
These tools can be demonstrated and taught working with the tikanga or principles of rākau.
Kawakawa opens the door.
As changes occur in our wairua, our hinengaro makes a shift in consciousness to align with our wairua.
Our thoughts take on new ideas to lead us forward. Support and encouragement is imperative at this stage to guide in the newness of life or to let go of old beliefs and stagnant energy.
Whanau, Mirimiri, Rongoā and good kai are necessary during this phase.
Tātarāmoa provides support & clarity to reach for the light.
As our thoughts take on new meaning we give them empowerment to physically move us and to take positive action. We seek new ways of supporting and strengthening this new energy within us.
We begin to see changes in our physical body and surrounding environment.
This is where the physical mahi is and where the intensity lies through applying our new thoughts and ideas.
Kohekohe challenges us to clear stagnation.
As our surrounding environment changes we now require the support and encouragement from our loved ones.
We seek those who share in our progress.
We make strong choices that lead us away from relationships that do not support us and/or we take steps to heal the imbalance within our whanau.
Mamaku supports and strengthens our cellular building blocks of life.
