TE WAKA RĀKAU
Rongoā is about using all of the senses
We Are Kaitiaki. was created so that tamariki could learn about the natural world, one another, and themselves. We Are Kaitiaki. is based along the Ōtaki River among hundreds of native trees. Our educational program aims to inspire the minds and enrich the lives of tamariki, by engaging them with all that nature has to offer.
We Are Kaitiaki. offers opportunities for holistic growth through regular sessions, ideally weekly for a couple of hours at a time.
Te Waka Rākau is a registered charity and operates purely from donations. We are a social enterprise providing education on Rongoā Māori.
To engage tamariki in real-life, nature based learning that empowers them to grow confidently with an authentic sense of place and belonging.
to enable each participant to have the opportunity to develop themselves in an inquisitive manner and have a positive relationship with the natural world.
We Are Kaitiaki. and being in nature is the antidote for our increasingly digital world. When tamariki are frequently connected with te taiao (nature) and each other; in a real, face-to-face way, an abundance of positive social and personal development takes place. The heart of our program is to develop the whole child. This includes their physical, intellectual, social and spiritual self. We are more than the information we carry in our minds.
Our program begins in Term 3 (From the 25th July)
