How To Infuse Oil with Kopakopa

Updated: Sep 16, 2020

  1. Collect a handful of kopakopa leaves (broad-leaf or narrow-leaf) preferably from your backyard or anywhere where pesticides have not been used.

  2. Place the leaves in a clean jar, it can be a recycled jam jar or any jar you have in the kitchen.

  3. Fill the jar with a good quality oil such as olive oil and make sure that the plant material is covered with the oil and then place the lid on the jar.

  4. Label the jar with the contents, date of the infusion and where the plant was harvested.

  5. Place the jar on a window-sill that receives sunlight and let it sit there for about 6 weeks.

  6. Keep an eye on the oil to make sure any leaf material is not exposed to the air, otherwise mould may grow in which case you'll have to start again.

  7. Give the jar a gentle shake every now and then to mix the contents.

  8. After 6 weeks, strain the oil into another jar or container and remove the plant material

  9. Keep the oil out of the sun and use as you wish; body oil, cooking. Or, you can turn the oil into a balm.
